SLUDGE

The Chiquita Canyon Landfill signed an agreement in 1997 during their last expansion to not accept sludge.  Below is an excerpt from the 1997 agreement where it states this:

In July 2011 the Cater Water Treatment in Santa Barbara approached Chiquita Canyon Landfill to take in sludge.  Below are the documents pertaining to Chiquita Canyon Landfill’s acceptance of this sludge and agreement to do so from July 2011 to June 2012.  The County served the landfill with a violation but no fine.  After receiving the fine, the landfill ceased accepting the sludge waste.
